‘Cliff’ Honored as 2015-2016 Purina Top Shooting Dog Award Winner

St. Louis, Missouri, July, 2016 … Capping a yearlong race that was neck-and-neck until the end, a confident and competitive Pointer called “Cliff” came out on top to win the 34th annual Purina Top Shooting Dog Award. The 7-year-old white-and-liver male, officially known as World Class Cliff, clinched the award with 1,535 points, just 20 points ahead of the second-place finisher.

Handled by professional Stacy Perkins of Crestline, Kansas, Cliff is co-owned by Mick Marietta and Brian Hamilton of Pittsburg, Kansas, and Bill Cignetti of Frontenac, Kansas. “Cliff has a lot of brains and bird-finding ability,” Hamilton said. “His style is unmatched.” Bred by Francis Buche and Rex Garner of Pittsburg, Kansas, Cliff was sired by CH Lester’s Snowatch, a two-time Purina Award winner.

Team Cliff, all first-time Purina Award winners, was recognized at a ceremony in June in Reno, Nevada, where they received the traditional green blazers given to the owners/handlers of the Purina Top Shooting Dog Award winners, an oil painting of Cliff by artist Ross Young, a satin award banner, a cash award that was doubled to $5,000 because Perkins is an active member of Purina Pro Club, and a year’s supply of Purina Pro Plan SPORT Performance 30/20 Chicken & Rice Formula, the food Cliff is fed.
